St. Michael's is one of the very few churches left in Southampton that regularly offers a full Choral Evensong service. In Choral Evensong words and music come together, each enriching the other, in order that our senses and our intellects, our hearts and our minds, may help us to draw closer to God who is above all, and through all and in all.
In leading these services, the Choir of St Michael & All Angels carries forward the ancient tradition of Choral Evensong, which dates back to the 16th century Reformation. The choir, who have sung at a number of cathedrals up and down the country, provide a first-class choral experience, with a wide variety of settings of introits, canticles and responses.
Choral Evensong is sung on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 18:30. See the Service Calendar for dates.
